Tim and I were vacationing in South Beach, Florida in the early 1990’s and had an experience that made a lasting impression. We were leaving a local gay bar after happy hour one evening, when two men on motorcycles roared out of nowhere and tried to run us down in the street… in broad daylight! Luckily, we escaped unharmed, but were forever reminded that gay travelers are often subjected to perils beyond their hotel room, even in this day and age.
Having had that experience, we realized that the LGBT community deserves to have safety and peace of mind. not only in their communities, but also when traveling throughout the United States and abroad.
